Dr. Fred Cerise, Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary and Chair of the Louisiana Health Care Redesign Collaborative,
has formed the Region 5 Health Care Redesign Committee.
This committee, in accordance with legislation passed in the 2006 Regular Session (HCR 127) creating the Collaborative, will focus on health care issues relative to the areas affected by Hurricane Rita. Region 5 consists of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jefferson-Davis parishes.
Dr. Cerise has appointed Dr. B.J. Foch, administrator and medical director for the DHH Office of Public Health – Region 5, to serve as chair of this committee.
The Committee held its first meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24, in the Contraband Room of the Lake Charles Civic Center, Lake Charles, La. This committee is in the formative stages, but through its work, the group will develop a report on health care issues in Region 5 to submit to Dr. Cerise and the Collaborative.
In accordance with HCR 127, the work of the Region 5 committee shall be guided by the charter approved by the Collaborative, and the committee will use the blueprint framework developed under the Collaborative for Region 1, the Greater New Orleans area.
