One in nine Americans – nearly 20 million people – suffer from chronic kidney disease. Chronic kidney disease occurs when your kidneys are not doing their job over a period of time. This can lead to many serious health problems such as: high blood pressure, organ damage, and early death.

What your kidneys do for you:

Your kidneys keep you alive and healthy. They filter waste out of blood, regulate your blood pressure, promote strong bones, and control the production of red blood cells. Keeping your kidneys healthy will enhance your overall health and quality of life.

Kidney disease can happen to you:

Twenty million Americans have chronic kidney disease and another 20 million are at risk. In fact, the number of kidney patients has doubled each of the past two decades.

Today there are more than 70,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant. Everyday about 15 people die waiting.

Anyone can get kidney disease. However, some people are at greater risk, including people who have:

diabetes
high blood pressure
a family history of chronic kidney disease

If you are African American, Hispanic or Native American your chance of getting kidney disease may be up to four times greater than average.

Most of the people who have kidney disease dont know it. Without early intervention, it may require dialysis or a kidney transplant. However, if discovered early, you and your doctor can prevent the progression of kidney disease to kidney failure.

fukun wang, and david, a kidney is something that you donate, and i, personally, think it's ridiculous that you would charge 60000 dollars to save someones life. if you want to make money, do not charge people for something they need so desperately. i think living should be free.
